When I first started my business I felt compelled to stay in the office even during slow periods. It is unproductive and bad for my morale.

These are good rules for productivity and I've found the same to be true for myself. When I fail to observe these rules I invariable find myself falling behind, or at my computer very late at night.

Now, one sage rule I was told a dozen years ago is one you might consider as well. An extremely busy and productive engineering head I knew, the type that has people queued up in his office to talk to him through-out his work day, once told me:

"Never work a full day. Always work two half days"

You see, at 12:00 everyday he bolted from his office changed into a cycling kit and hit the road for 45 minutes, back at his desk to field the queue by 1:05.

cheers
