FirstDocs is now Brightleaf Corporation (http://www.brightleafcorp.com) and Jay's description of how a "a law firm could give clients access to this forms library so that the clients themselves can create documents, but with only limited ability to make changes " is very much the sort of thing we do. We don't provide our forms; we automate yours (actually, we work hard to make the system simple enough so that you can automate your own).

You can shill for whomever you wish! ;) I was just pointing out the fact that I'd not reviewed the quality of their documents, so I couldn't comment on whether they were good templates or not.

I agree with that, and also with the idea that a good set of forms are among a firm's strongest assets. Not that they need to be unique to the firm- you just need to know them cold and have confidence in them.

I was definitely not trying to shill for FirstDocs, but will note that they let firms use FirstDocs forms or the firm's own.

I'm not sure about the quality of the documents from FirstDocs, but generally speaking, I'm a little worried about using templates by people you don't know/trust, as I detailed fully in this recent post on my site: http://www.licensinghandbook.com/2009/07/23/for...
